Practice Your Craft - Great Wolf Lodge, Georgia

Practice makes perfect, right? Honestly, perfection is exhausting and it’s a rather unattractive trait I see people focus too much on. Peter McKinnon quoted something like, “ done is better than perfect.” It’s a statement that I resonate with a lot.

Before becoming a full-time creator with my own business, I took opportunities to practice my craft in settings like my church, YouTube channels, and community events. My personal jobs helped shape my professional work.

Now that I am a full-time professional creator, things have not changed much. At times, it feels like I might be working all the time, but the truth is, I need areas where I experiment “off the clock” vs taking a chance with client work.

This week we took a trip to Great Wolf Lodge in Georgia. Part of me wanted to leave the camera at home, but I chose to take my Sony a6400 and Mavic Air with me to grab a few shots of something.

I have a desire to travel more and more. I want to gain sponsors for travel trips. Therefore, I have made it a goal to make travel content no matter where I go, no matter if I think the destination is epic or not. Reminds me of the boring room challenges for b-roll.

Moral of the story is to practice your craft no matter where you are.
